Motivational Talk on Teaching as a Career and English Proficiency Workshop

On 24th April (Friday), a one-day educational program, a collaboration between IPGKBL and DBNA was carried out at the Batu Lintang Teacher Education Institute (IPGKBL). The program aimed to give exposure to rural secondary schools students on the career as a teacher, which was coordinated by Mr. George Diie, a lecturer from the institute itself and also the assistant secretary of the DBNA Education Sub Committee.  A workshop on English proficiency was also included in the program to create awareness on its importance alongside the National Language, Bahasa Malaysia. The program was funded by the patron of DBNA, the honorable Dato Sri Michael Manyin Ak Jawong who is also the State Minister for the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Communication.

There were about 100 participants from 9 secondary schools from the Bidayuh areas of Serian, Padawan and Bau.  The program was officiated by the Deputy Director of IPGKBL, Mr. Jamiran Bin Salam, witnessed by two members of the DBNA Supreme Council, Mr. Asem Linkin – the DBNA Treasurer-General and Dr. Clarence Jerry – the DBNA Assistant Treasurer-General and Chairman of the DBNA Education Sub-committee.
