Piramin Kampong Bunuk in Penrissen, Kuching, Sarawak on Sunday 18/11/18

Cikgu Josak Siam, Coordinator of DBNA’s signature ethnic education programme, the Multi-Linguistics Education proframme, giving out certificates of achievement to the children at the “Piramin Kampong Bunuk” in Penrissen, Kuching, Sarawak on Sunday 18/11/18.

He is seen here beating the “gong” 7 times to officiate the Sukanika (fun sports).

This is the yearly annual event of the Piramin Playschool (Bidayuh Language Playschool).

Present was the Deputy Chairman of DBNA Penrissen Branch, Cikgu Gibson Sateh and Summer Institute of Language staff, Mdm Morina Feensta.

“Hari Belia” or Youth Day celebrations in Sibu

DBNA is proud to have been a part of the Sarawak state level “Hari Belia” or Youth Day celebrations in Sibu, Kuching, Sarawak on Sunday 18/11/18.

Coordinated by Mr Mejun Abang of DBNA Sibu branch, and led by Mr Terence Gopa of the Youth category, the DBNA contingent came in full constumes and to represent the 4 major language groups of the Bidayuhs.

My Presence SIL Conference @ Sibu Sarawak

DBNA was invited to present at the “My Presence SIL Conference” in Sibu, Sarawak on 14 November 2018.

Datu Ik Pahon is represented by Mr Josak Siam, the Coordinator of the Bidayuh Language Development Programme, which is the association’s signature language preservation education programme in collaboration with SIL.

Thank you SIL for inviting DBNA to present on the journey on preserving the Bidayuh languages. All the best to SIL and DBNA in the continuing journey.

We have the Wordlists for the Bidayuh languages i.e. Bukar Sadong, Biatah, Bau-Jagoi for sale at DBNA Headquarters. If and when you are in Kuching, do stop by the office during office hours. Mr Josak and the Admin team would be more than happy to show you the books, which are selling for RM5 and RM25.

Bidayuh Language Debate & Bidayuh Salako Wordlist Launching

Itsssss’s back!! A Bidayuh language debate is happening and this time, it’s organised by the DBNA Lundu Branch together with our friends at WAIfm.

At the same time, there will be a launching of the Bidayuh Salako Wordlist at 9am on November 17, 2018.

The back drop is in the Salako language, in case you are wondering. 😀

All Bidayuhs are welcomed. Do make your way to Lundu.

DBNA Admin Hq office will also be putting up a stall selling the other Wordlists (books) in the other 3 Bidayuh languages.

Ethnic & cultural visit to Annah Rais Longhouse Padawan by delegation of Beijing Dance Academy China

A delegation of 6 persons from the Beijing Dance Academy, China, made an ethnic and cultural visit to the village of Annah Rais Longhouse, Padawan, Kuching, Sarawak, from 9am – 3:30pm on Tuesday 6 November 2018.

Led by the DBNA Padawan Branch Chairman, Mr Harry Busan and his team, together with DBNA Cultural Officer, Cr. Paul Akiu Bandat, and the Ana Rais Village Committee, the troupe was briefed on the cultural and Bidayuh ethnic by the Bidayuh Elders of the kampung. They were also welcomed by the special appearance of the legendary “Ring Ladies” of Kampung Semban, a “Pritung” musical ensemble performance and Ana Rais Cultural Troupe.

Council of Indigenous People of Taiwan 25 October 2018

DBNA Supreme Council Members, together with a Paramount Chief of the Bidayuh, paid a visit to the Council of Indigenous People of Taiwan on 25 October 2018. They will be visiting other cultural sites and places of interests.

TYT Celebration Parade @Sibu Sarawak

DBNA is proud to be a part of the Sarawakian community at the TYT celebration parade held in Sibu, Sarawak today, 11/10/18.

DBNA is represented by members from the DBNA Central Branches i.e Sibu, Sarikei and Mukah.

Led by Supreme Council Executive Committee Member, Semba Mejun Abang, the contingent is dressed in full Bidayuh costumes and colours representing the 4 major language groups of the Bidayuhs.
